The French Tech Tokyo website is the official online hub of the French Tech scene based in Tokyo and Japan, bringing together companies, startups, investors, events and organizations.

This online hub will :

  • Facilitate introductions between French entrepreneurs based in Tokyo and French entrepreneurs willing to expand their business in Japan.
  • Provide visibility to startups founded by French entrepreneurs who are operating in Tokyo.
  • Reference public and private initiatives and organizations who support French startups expanding in Japan.
  • Be the entry point for Japanese investors, companies, engineers willing to explore new opportunities in France


On November 22nd. Scality will deliver the latest market trends, product updates, customer stories and partner solutions at Scality Software Defined Storage Day (SDS Day), which is in its fourth year of this year.

In addition, Scality will also exhibit solutions of IoT, AI, BigData and Cloud startups in cooperation with the French startup community "French Tech" which is gaining attention in the global IT market this time.

Paris&Co launches a new call for applications for the next session of Paris Landing Pack_Explore!

Foreign-based startups looking to expand into the French market are invited to apply to Paris Landing Pack_Explore, a business acceleration program organized by Paris&Co.

This 1 month program will take place in October 2018. It will provide selected startups with a complete set of workshops on how to do business in France.

26th of June 2018 : French Tech Summit in Tokyo Feedback

French Tech Tokyo held “The French Tech Summit in Tokyo” on the 26th of June, 2018. This event marked the termination of one month of many events promoting La French Tech and France’s innovation ecosystem. Organized in collaboration with our partner, EDGEof, the event gathered 5 speakers around a roundtable on “Why choose France”, 15 exhibitors and more than 120 visitors.

First event held “for startups and by startups”, the French Tech Summit in Tokyo was the occasion to promote France’s attractiveness in digital sector and excellence of French startups to Japanese innovation ecosystem.

Moderated by Mr Alex Odajima, Co-CEO of EDGEof and French Tech Tokyo’s partner, the roundtable gathered:

All the speakers were able to exchange their views on France’s startup and digital ecosystem. They concluded that France is a place with a high level of education, a solid scientific background and a large market (for example in silver economy). The entrepreneur Mitani Hiroumi stated that France has a better environment for startups and investors, compared to US where life costs are too high. He also emphasized that France is very good business partner for Japan. Overall, all speakers agreed that regarding the current international environment (increase of protectionisms, BREXIT, etc…), France is well positioned to be the next Startup Nations’ leader.

The event was also the occasion for the visitors to meet with some French entrepreneurs and startups, along with some members of French Tech Tokyo’s community. 15 exhibitors were there to show French expertise in new technologies:


June 2018 : French Tech Month in Tokyo Feedback

June 2018 was a French Tech Month in Tokyo and was the occasion to hold various events under the label "French Tech Tokyo".

June 4th : "Creww x Campfire : Report from a visit to Station F"

The event was about a report on the visit of Station F managed by Keisuke Kosakai, Associate Consultant at Capgemini, who collected the budget of the trip through the crowd funding platform CAMPFIRE. He reported about the feedbacks he got from resident startups at Station F. Alex Odajima, Co CEO of EdgeOf and Ms Kaoruko Hayashi, from Business France Tokyo, were present to talk about the French Tech initiative and the French startups ecosystem.

June 13th : "Mariko Nishimura's Tech & Party! VOL.3"

This event was the occasion to organize a panel discussion between Alex Odajima, Co-CEO of EDGEof and Tatsuya Matsui, CEO of Flower Robotics. Matsui is a top level robot designer who also lived in France and worked with Airbus for some design project. The two presenters talked about how art was integrated in the French lifestyle and why there is such impressive growth of hardware startups with high level of design in France.

June 11th to 13th : "French Tech Tour in Japan", by Business France

The 8th edition of the French Tech Tour in Japan welcomed 7 companies from 11th to 13th of June in Tokyo (11th to 13th) :


Global Exam





Business France organized more than 50 B2B meetings for the seven startups. On the 11th, after a fruitful collective meeting with Softbank and other individual ones with others companies all around Tokyo, the companies were able to meet with French companies already based in Japan at the Global Business Hub Tokyo.

On 12th, no rest for our French startups : after fruitful BtoB meetings all day, they participated to a pitch event in the evening at EDGEof (Shibuya), in front of more than 80 attendees

June 20th : "VIVATECHNOLOGY 2018 Report", at DMM.make AKIBA

DMM.make AKIBA, an official partner of French Tech Tokyo, held a VIVATECH reporting event, which gathered over 60 companies and entrepreneurs. 

6 panelists from the startup, corporate and the community management side presented their experiences in France. 

Discussions were held with various topics such as open innovation of Japan and France seen from diverse viewpoint, economic and cultural difference regarding the startup ecosystem and lastly, the forms of co-work that Japan should learn from France.
